Summer 2010 Nantucket Photos — The summer of 2010 in July was exactly the opposite of 2009. Extremely hot and dry. So dry that it was a very poor year for hydrangeas. The only hydrangeas that did well this summer were those in the shade that were watered. July had horrible rip currents on the south shore resulting in many rescues. The last week of July the heavy south shore waves vanished with many beach goers commenting "I haven't seen it so calm in years."
