| In the July 29th, 2010 edition of the Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror (the local Nantucket newspaper), a letter to the editor was published and signed by the Nantucket Town Crier (Curtis Barnes). The editorial was titled "Summer visitors the gas to our engine". Curtis Barnes went on to write;
"We hate 'em while they're here, speeding, rude, inconsiderate.
But, they pay 80 percent of our taxes, which allows us to enjoy living on our island the other 40 weeks of the year."
Click here to see Curtis receiving an award on February 29th, 2008 for having "had a positive effect on the tourism industry through outstanding service to visitors." What a difference a few years makes. Now we know what Curtis really thinks of Nantucket Visitors. |
